First of all, you have to know that weight is an inaccurate measure of performance and a poor indicator of health. Genetics predispose what is our body’s “ideal” condition. By ideal condition, I am referring to the percentage of body fat compared to the total weight. Experiencing large fluctuations in your percentage of body fat is unhealthy. Now that I have mentioned all this, you should know that it does not really apply to your case. You are still at an age where your weight is supposed to change rapidly.
Realistically, there are a number of disadvantages of having excessive body fat. It limits your flexibility and usually makes you less mobile. Apart from that, playing football is not in any way unhealthy. Quite the opposite, it is an exercise that is beneficial for developing your cardiovascular system as well as your muscles. By the way, you should also know that muscle mass weights more than fat. That further reiterates that weight does not measure how healthy you are, especially for your age. Good soccer players come in all shapes and sizes. by Expert 14:43:57 Tuesday 13 April 2004 |
