I'm now just going to start soccer season for spring and I wanted to know how is the best way to get and stay in shape?
There are two main aspects you should know about when it comes to getting into shape for soccer.
Anaerobic fitness defines how tolerant your muscles are to intense activity like sprinting. Good anaerobic fitness helps you recover quicker and play at high pace throughout an entire soccer game. To improve your anaerobic fitness you can run intervals, fartleks, do weight training or work on any type of exercise which puts strain on your muscles in intervals alternating in intensity.
Aerobic endurance is the second aspect of fitness you should know about. Aerobic fitness accounts for your long-term endurance and is directly influenced by your cardiovascular system. Aerobic or “cardio” exercises include jogging or any activity continuously performed for over 30 minutes.
