hi..how to be a good defender esp. center back ?..what are the best center back in the world like rio ferdinad, john terry do to improve their defending skill?..what is the best defending tactic?.. |
Good defending is a balance of experience and fitness.
The more you play against opponents, the more you learn.
Experience will teach you what to expect from an attacker.
Good defenders never get beaten more than once by the same trick.
Some levels of quickness and agility are necessary to play defense.
But even if your enemy has a considerable physical advantage (like speed or strength) you must still be able to limit/deal with him.
The best defensive tactic is knowing yourself and your opponents.
Deal with each individual enemy appropriately.
Imagine that you are approached by a very strong attacker who can easily shield and push you off the ball.
In that case you want to wait for an appropriate moment to abruptly dive in and poke the ball away from him.
This is not how you would deal with a fast attacker who can dribble around you.
Topnotch defenders work mostly on strategies like marking and playing in conjunction.
In terms of fitness training, defenders usually concentrate on agility and strength training.
To improve your defending ability, in general, you must engage in as many 1v1 battles as possible. Play against many and different opponents.
Other important technical skills for defenders include heading and ball control. by Expert 13:13:29 Monday 14 June 2004 |
