Stoichkov starts work with Barça next week

Next week, Bulgarian megastar Hristo Stoichkov will officially sign a contract to work at Barcelona as a coach. He will help Barça's staff with everything from their youth programme, reserve team to even advising the club's head coach.

"I have many doors opened and it is a real honor, for me to return to the place where I reached my greatest achievements. Thanks to the support of Txiki Beguiristain, my job here will be a lot easier. I have the task of developing the attacking-oriented players in all youth squads at Barcelona."

Stoichkov is preparing a farewell match after the end of the spring season, just before Euro 2004. "It will be enjoyable for all the people who remembered me. We'll invite all players who have won the Golden Ball or the Golden Boot. I will make no exceptions. I will even invite Georgi Slavkov and Peter Zhekov. Everyone is welcome. The doors of the Nou Camp will be wide open!"
